Texercise is a program of the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS)
In July 2010, the Texas Round-Up Board of Directors made the decision to gift all of its programs — GetFitTexas, the Governor's Challenge, the Texas Round-Up foot race and FitCities — to various organizations. Below is a status update on these components to help you plan your 2011 health activities.
The Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) Texercise program was gifted the GetFitTexas online physical activity tracking tool.
DADS is in the process of transitioning the database and developing the website. In this process, some minor changes are being made before the system will be live. Due to the changes necessary, we cannot provide a set date when the system will be live. It is our hope to have the website and the GetFitTexas tracking tool available as soon as possible.
We apologize for the inconvenience, and we thank you for your patience with us as we work through the changes.
State employees and FitCities know the Governor's Challenge as the physical activity challenge issued every January. Since the Texas Round-Up closed its operations, no entity has been identified to host an annual challenge.
If you are a state agency employee, please check with your agency's wellness coordinator to learn about options for engaging in a physical activity program.
If you are a FitCity, please contact Brandon LeBlanc via e-mail at Brandon.LeBlanc@dshs.state.tx.us or phone 512-458-7111, ext 3182.
The foot race is still operating under the name of Texas Round-Up and will take place in Austin on April 30, 2011. For more information on the race, please visit the Texas Round-Up website.
The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) was gifted the FitCities program, which they are in the process of integrating with their mission and existing programs.
Visit the DSHS website for more information about their programs and services.
If you have questions regarding FitCities, please contact Brandon LeBlanc via e-mail at Brandon.LeBlanc@dshs.state.tx.us or phone 512-458-7111, ext 3182.
