When: Oct. 13, 2008 - Jan. 16, 2009
Why: Are you looking for a way to recognize your site manager, activity director, trainers or wellness coordinator? Are you looking for a fun way to enhance your exercise/walking program and provide awards to the seniors who participate? Do you have little or no budget, but have some time that you already dedicate to an exercise program?
How: Please call Nicole Volek at 832-771-2725 to sign-up your senior exercise group for Texercise. You can then place the words "Texercise" on the calendar of events for your facility.
Who: Any facility or individual 55 or older is encouraged to take the Texercise challenge
Texercise is a statewide fitness campaign, developed by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services, to educate and involve all Texans in physical activity and good nutrition throughout their lifespan. The Texercise motto is "An active healthy lifestyle is a key component to aging well."
Every senior who participates receives a Texercise handbook. They also will get a T-shirt and certificate at the Fifth Annual Awards ceremony. Special guest presenters at the event will be Mary Ann Wilson of "Sit and Be Fit" and JoAnn Kocurek, investor education coordinator for the Texas State Securities Board.
