Texercise is a program of the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS)
The Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) serves as a matchmaker between community leaders and local partners who promote healthy lifestyles. The agency also connects community partners with representatives from our statewide partners.
The local team identifies each partner's strengths and devleops resources and opportunities for year-long engagement with the public.
For example, the Capital Texercise Team planned a kick-off fitness and nutrition event in Austin. Partners participated in various ways:
All team members supported and publicized the event through their communication channels (e-mail, radio, websites, television, etc). AT&T and RSVP, two of the statewide core partners, had local volunteers help with publicity as well as attend the event. More than 200 attended the kick-off event.
With this model, everyone wins.
