Walk Across Texas and Texercise
Walk Across Texas and Texercise have partnered to help encourage Texans ages 55 and older make healthy lifestyle choices such as participating in regular physical activity.
Texercise will be supplying Walk Across Texas County Agents with tools and methods for encouraging local activities and distributing motivational incentives within their community.
Tools provided include:
- Introduction to Texercise Kit – This kit will be available to County Agents and will assist in developing the groundwork and ideas for developing local teams within their community.
- Community Texercise Kit – This will be provided to each local team by the County Agent and will include motivational incentives for those participating in the program such as a Texercise Handbook, t-shirts and a pedometer.
Encouraging Activity:
- County Agents are provided with the Introduction to Texercise kit that lays the groundwork and direction for developing local teams.
- County Agents develop teams and assist them in completing the Texercise/Walk Across Texas Team commitment form. The Texercise/Walk Across Texas Team commitment form

- records the teams name, ages, goal and timeline, and
- is the method for requesting Community Texercise Kits for each team.
- County Agents provide a Texercise program specialist with the completed master reporting form. The master reporting form lists of all the teams in the region, and helps Texercise distribute and track the Community Texercise Kits.
- Texercise ships Community Texercise Kits to the County Agents who distribute kits to the teams in their region.
- Texercise/Walk Across Texas Teams use the resources in the Community Texercise Kit and Walk Across Texas to encourage member activity, track the teams progress and challenge each other.
If you are a County Agent and would like to obtain the Texercise/Walk Across Texas packets offered in this partnership, please contact malu.faccio@dads.state.tx.us.
